BMW board member Peter Schwarzenbauer has revealed MINI is still considering a production version of the Superleggera Vision concept.

Speaking to Autocar, Schwarzenbauer said the model has received an "extremely positive reaction" but they still haven't green-lighted a production variant. As he explained, "We are not sure yet – the volume is low and how many open cars do you need in a range?"

While the executive seemed to downplay the possibility a production model, he hinted a "simpler interior" and an electric powertrain is where the brand is headed.

Interestingly, MINI recently filed a patent for a revised version of the original Superleggera Vision concept. It looked more production ready as it featured traditional door handles, a revised grille and side mirrors from the Cooper hatchback.
