Ferrari needs to cut back on its emissions levels so the 458 Italia facelift will adopt turbocharging next year when the facelift will be out. Likely to be called 458 M (Modificado), the prancing horse will probably drop its naturally aspirated V8 4.5-liter in favor of a twin-turbo V8 engine with a displacement of less than four liters while output is estimated to stand at a devilish 666 bhp (497 kW) and more than 745 Nm (550 lb-ft).
Ferrari will also make some modifications to the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox to handle the extra oomph provided by the new engine which is believed to benefit from the "ion" knock detection system that automatically adjusts combustion for each cylinder.
The Ferrari 458 M (Coupe and Spider) will allegedly come to Geneva Motor Show in March and is bound to receive some subtle body changes making it more aerodynamic and look fresh in its battle with the McLaren 650S.
