A study conducted by PPG Industries has revealed white is once again the most popular color of the year.

A quarter of those who purchased a car last year selected a white paint and according to the global data gathered by PPG Industries, so far this year white has increased in popularity to 28%. In second place comes black with 18%, while silver and gray take third sport with 13% each. PPG mentions silver's popularity has decreased in the last two years by 7%.

Based on regional data, 23% of cars purchased this year in North America have a white paint, followed by black (18%) and gray (16%). In Europe, one in four new cars sold in 2014 are white, 15% are black and 14% are gray. As for South America, silver and white each have 32%, followed by black with 13% while gray was selected by 11% of the clients. 31% of new car buyers in Asia Pacific markets also selected a white hue, followed by black (20%) and silver (12%).

PPG estimates next year more clients will go for natural tones like oranges, coppers and browns, along with metal tones such as bronze, rose gold and pewter.
