According to a recent report, Chrysler's popular Pentastar V6 engine is about to receive a series of significant upgrades.

Citing sources familiar with the matter, Automotive News is reporting the updated engine family will feature direct injection and modifications to support turbocharging.

Additional information is limited but an upgraded 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine is slated to debut in facelifted Jeep Grand Cherokee late next year.

The report goes on to say the 2016 Chrysler Town & Country will feature a 3.2-liter Pentastar V6 engine which will be connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission. This will reportedly enable the minivan to be 25% more fuel efficient than its predecessor which returns 17 mpg city / 25 mpg highway (US).
