The 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 was one of the stars of the Los Angeles Auto Show but a new report is indicating it will be available exclusively as a coupe.

While Ford offered a Shelby GT500 Convertible, Road & Track is reporting a Shelby GT350 Convertible was never part of the plan. According to their sources, the Shelby GT350 was designed to deliver maximum performance and the loss of the fixed roof would reduce the car's stiffness so much that the "point of the GT350 would be negated."

The news is slightly disappointing but the magazine goes on to say Ford will unveil a GT350R at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It is being billed as a more track-focused variant which will feature aerodynamic styling tweaks, beefier brakes and more aggressive tires.
