Ford has unveiled a seven-seat Edge at a Go Further event in Guangzhou, China.

Designed to "reset the standard in the three-row SUV market," the model has a familiar design but adopts a longer wheelbase and a new rear end. The changes aren't pretty but they allow the crossover to have a third-row seat.

Ford was coy on additional information but they confirmed the model will be launched next year and offered with a 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine.

According to Ford Motor China President John Lawler, “Creating and producing the three-row Edge for China shows how carefully we are listening to our customers here." He added, "Our research indicates that premium SUV customers in China are looking for more space and comfort. By building on the global Ford Edge, we have been able to deliver that with this vehicle.”
