BMW design director Karim Habib has revealed the company's upcoming models will feature unique styling cues to help differentiate them for each other.

Speaking to Autocar, Habib said "We want each and every model to have its own little world." He added, “We need to maintain exclusivity, and if anything we will make them more separate."

The new styling philosophy will be introduced on the 2016 7-Series and carryover to the next-generation 1-, 3- and 5-Series. This should help to placate fans who have decried the models for looking too similar.

There's no word on how radical the changes will be but Habib said the models will all have an "authentic design" that "represents the inner qualities of the car."
