The Morgan Three Wheeler was designed to be a simplistic throwback to the early days of motoring but a new report is indicating the company is considering an electric variant.

Details are limited but the Telegraph is reporting the model's success has spurred the company to consider an eco-friendly version with an electric powertrain. There's no word on when the model could arrive but Charles Morgan suggested the company was considering different body styles and engines before he was ousted last year.

Speaking of the model's success, Morgan design boss Jon Wells revealed the Three Wheeler is the company's bestselling model and they have sold far more than they originally planned. As he explained, “We have quite a loyal customer base and we were thinking in the realm of 400 to 500 cars sold in the initial spike. But then we sold 1,000 cars in the first year and that was much more than we expected."
