The Acura NSX has made a comeback to the Nürburgring for additional testing ahead of next year's long-awaited launch.

It was back in July when a prototype of the 2015 Honda/Acura NSX went up in flames on the 'Ring for reasons still unknown and now testing has resumed for the much anticipated NSX revival. Set to be priced competitively with the Audi R8, the new NSX promises to provide just about the same performance levels as the Ferrari 458 Italia, according to head of development Ted Klaus.

We know for sure the vehicle will make use of a pompously named Sport Hybrid Super Handling All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) encompassing a mid-mounted V6 powering the rear axle while two electric motors will drive the front wheels. There's also going to be a third electric motor built into a newly developed dual clutch gearbox.

Following the car's introduction, expect additional models such as roadster and a high-performance derivatives to join the range in the years to come.
