A Porsche representative has announced the flagship 918 Spyder has almost reached sold out status.

Andre Oosthuizen, vice president of marketing for Porsche Cars North America Inc told Automotive News a small yet unspecified number of 918 Spyder units are still up for grabs, with production already booked until the end of March or early April. Only 918 units will ever be made and Porsche has delivered so far more than 30 units.

Production of the Porsche 918 Spyder kicked off last fall and will come to an end towards the end of July and according to Porsche the biggest market is represented by United States where the hybrid supercar carries a starting price of $847,975 (including shipping). Porsche has tried to entice potential buyers by sending promotional mailings as well as invitations to private events where interested customers were asked to make a $200,000 deposit to secure the car by getting on the waiting list.
