Detroit Electric's SP:01 is two years behind schedule but the company has just released a teaser video that provides a "hint of the final exterior design" of the production model.

While we only get a few glimpses of the car, it remains pretty faithful to the original model which was shown back in April of 2013.

Interestingly, the production model will be more powerful than previously reported as the company says the mid-mounted electric motor will produce 278 bhp (207 kW) and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft) of torque instead of the previously mentioned 201 bhp (150 kW) and 225 Nm (166 lb-ft) of torque. Despite the sizable difference, the company says the car will be slower than originally estimated as it will run from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds and 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.

In a statement, Detroit Electric CEO Albert Lam said “This new creative direction reflects Detroit Electric’s passion to deliver premium, design-driven products. We are proud to identify with the original Detroit Electric company’s history and look forward to enhancing the core values of this historic brand through innovation, pioneering spirit and performance. The new corporate identity has modernized the brand’s image to ensure it is fit for today’s rapidly evolving market, while preserving some of the magic and heritage of the original Detroit Electric brand.”
