Speaking to Auto Motor und Sport, Stadler said the upcoming plug-in hybrid variant is important because it gives customers the performance they desire while still being able to travel emissions free in cities. Despite his optimism, he believes the eco-friendly variant will only account for of approximately ten percent of the model's sales.

In related news, the publication is reporting a Q8 will be launched in 2017 and be a more coupe-like version of the Q7. It will reportedly be positioned as a BMW X7 competitor.
