The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe (ML Coupe / MLC) has made a comeback in a fresh spy video.

The high-riding M-Class has been captured on camera while undergoing testing on the Nürburgring ahead of next year's launch. Set on take the second-gen BMW X6, the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe will essentially be a production version of the Concept Coupe SUV but without the frameless windows while riding on the same platform as the M-Class which is bound to receive a facelift in 2015.

Initially it was believed the model would be called MLC or ML Coupe but based on a recent report the name has been changed into GLE Coupe, with the facelifted M-Class to be called GLE. It appears all future Mercedes-Benz crossovers and SUVs will use “GL” followed by a third letter indicating the size of the model in relation to the core C, E and S models.

Codenamed C292, the GLE Coupe will use the same engines as the GLE, including the twin-turbo V8 5.5-liter which will power the AMG variant already captured on camera that is programmed to come out approximately one year later after the regular model.

Production will take at Mercedes-Benz's Tuscaloosa, Alabama factory and it is believed sales will begin in the third quarter of 2015. An official reveal could occur as early as January next year at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Needless to say, the GLE Coupe will be significantly more expensive than the equivalent GLE (M-Class facelift).
