Porsche North America's Vice President of Marketing has confirmed the company will offer a diesel-powered Macan in the United States.

Speaking to Automotive News, Andre Oosthuizen said the model is currently under development but should have about 245 bhp (183 kW). This isn't terribly surprising as Porsche already offers a Macan S Diesel - with a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that develops 258 PS (190 kW / 255 bhp) - in other markets.

Oosthuizen went on to say the model could be introduced at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show and cost less than $60,000 when it goes on sale in late 2015 or early 2016.

In related news, Oosthuizen downplayed the possibility of the United States getting an entry-level four-cylinder engine by saying the model is "not under consideration for the foreseeable future" due to capacity issues.
