The next-gen Hyundai ix35 has returned in a fresh batch of spy shots, this time providing a first glimpse of the interior cabin.

The prototype was spotted testing in the Alps carrying slightly less camouflage on the front allowing us to take a look at the hexagonal grille and the uncovered slender headlights featuring LED technology. From the single interior shot we notice a small screen which can only indicate this was a lower-spec version as the more expensive variant will pack a larger touchscreen display.

Hyundai's next ix35 / Tucson will be bigger than today's model and this shouldn't come as a surprise taking into consideration they now have a smaller ix25 crossover. Front-wheel drive will be standard but at an additional cost all-wheel drive will be offered while engine lineup will likely be carried over with some minor tweaks.

The Euro-spec ix35 should continue with the 1.6-liter GDi along with 1.7- and 2.0-liter CRDi diesels whereas the US-spec Tucson will be powered by 2.0- and 2.4-liter GDi motors. Chances are there will be another ix35 Fuel Cell but will probably be launched later on during the vehicle's life.

An official reveal will probably occur in the first half of 2015, with sales to commence towards the end of the year as a 2016MY.
