A new rumor indicates Chevrolet will sell the Corvette Zora ZR1 (C8) alongside the C7 for several years.

The Corvette Zora ZR1 is expected to come out as a 2017 model year and will be a low volume car with production set at around 1,500 units per year. Priced at an estimated $150,000, the new mid-engined Corvette will coexist with the C7 until 2020 when all the versions will make the switch to the eighth generation.

Power is expected to come from a V8 engine of yet unspecified displacement and output which will allow the Corvette Zora ZR1 C8 improve the Corvette Z51 C7's 3.8s 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint time and 181 mph (291 km/h) top speed.

According to the same report, lesser versions of the Corvette C8 will eventually get V6 engines and by 2020 there will likely be an all-wheel drive version featuring a hybrid powertrain with the electric motor driving the front wheels.
