A drag racer in a '55 Chevy managed to escape a horrifying crash without suffering any serious injuries.

It happened at the Colorado Street Outlaws race at Pikes Peak International Raceway where the '55 Chevy was drag racing a second generation Camaro. Looking at the video and trying to figure out what happened, it all went sour when the Camaro driver started to have issues controlling the vehicle on the lane and then the Chevy driver decided to swerve in order to avoid an impact.

Rather than slowing down, the '55 Chevy driver tried to stabilize the car but it was too late and in a few seconds it rolled over several times before coming to a full stop with the driver's legs going through the windshield. According to the video's description, the vehicle was equipped only with a lap belt which due to the impact was literally ripped off from the floor.

The driver was lucky enough to get out of the car on his own two feet even before the safety crew arrived. It's safe to say the helmet saved his life but probably he won't be lucky a second time which is why a proper harness is a mandatory item if he decides to repair the vehicle.
