The 2015 Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake has been spied undergoing testing on the Nürburgring, ahead of its launch early next year.

Designed to a more affordable alternative to C-Class Estate, the CLA Shooting Brake has a familiar design but adopts a stylish rear end that borrows cues from the CLS Shooting Brake. The car's styling will likely limit its practicality but at least there are larger rear doors to improve access to rear seat.

Engine options will likely carryover from the standard model so choices could include:

  • A 1.5-liter diesel with 109 PS (80 kW)
  • A 1.8-liter diesel with 136 PS (100 kW)
  • A 2.1-liter diesel with 170 PS (125 kW)
  • A 1.6-liter petrol with outputs of 122 PS (90 kW) and 156 PS (115 kW)
  • A 2.0-liter petrol with 211 PS (155 kW)

Our spies have also caught an AMG variant which will use a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 360 PS (265 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque. This should enable the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than five seconds.
