Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche has revealed the company is "fundamentally open" to a deeper partnership with Aston Martin.

Speaking to Reuters, Zetsche said the company is open to discussing further ties but the decision is up to Andy Palmer who was recently appointed as Aston Martin CEO. Zetsche went on to say Palmer's appointment is a 'plus' for their collaboration with Aston Martin.

As we have previously reported, Daimler already owns a five percent stake in Aston Martin and the company is reportedly considering a full takeover. Nothing is official but reports have indicated that some executives feel that Aston Martin is an unnecessary risk while others think it's a "jewel" that should be snatched up.
