Volvo's all new XC90 SUV had its long awaited unveiling yesterday and here is a chance to see the model smashed around as it conducts their crash tests. For a company that prides itself on producing some of the safest cars in the world, it is important to show their newest creation abides by their philosophy.

In the video we get to see the SUV conducting front, side and roll over crash tests and their impact on the occupants inside. Naturally, the role of the occupants is taken by a few crash test dummies that certainly survive largely in tact.

Volvo has looked drivers to avoid instances where similar real-world crashes might occur with the introduction of a few new safety systems. These include

  • Run-off road protection that automatically detects a frontal collision and veers the vehicle off the road to avoid it.
  • Lane Keeping Aid
  • Auto braking
  • Extended road sign information
  • Blind spot information
  • Queue assistance
