A prototype of what appears to be the Porsche Macan GTS was spotted tackling the Nürburgring.

Some of us are still getting used to the idea of seeing crossovers and SUVs being tested around the Nordschleife and here is another example in the form of a more focused Macan. Earlier this year Porsche slapped the "GTS" badge on the Boxster and Cayman duo and they will do the same thing on the 911 later this year and the Macan GTS seen here being pushed hard around the 'Ring.

The Porsche Macan GTS will likely be positioned between the S and Turbo so expect output to stand at approximately 360-370 PS taking into account the S packs 340 PS whereas the Turbo has 400 PS. It will likely cover the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in five seconds, making it quicker than the Macan S (5.2 seconds) yet slower than the Macan Turbo (4.6 seconds with Sport Chrono Package).

It will also receive a firmer suspension setup, bigger alloy wheels and uprated brakes while the design won't stray away at all as styling changes will be limited to larger front air intakes and other similar modest tweaks. On the inside there should be a sportier steering wheel, sport bucket seats and some Alcantara applications. The prototype being tested here also has a roll cage but that won't make it onto the production version.

Taking into consideration the spotted prototype was virtually undisguised, an official reveal will likely occur in the months to come, possibly in October at the Paris Motor Show.
