According to reports out of Japan, Toyota could offer a new model based on the BMW 1-Series.

Details are limited but Best Car Magazine is reporting the model is codenamed the 69DZ and will be unveiled in 2017. Little else is known about the car but it will reportedly slot below the GT 86 and feature styling similar to the 1-Series hatchback.

Under the hood, we can expect a naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 130 bhp (112 kW) and 150 Nm (110 lb-ft) of torque. It will reportedly be connected to six-speed automatic and manual transmissions.

We're taking everything with a grain of salt but the model will reportedly be previewed by a concept at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.
