BMW has announced plans to introduce the X5 Security Plus at the Moscow Motor Show.

Previewed by a concept at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the production model is designed to meet the "highest requirements in the field" of passenger safety. As a result, it has been equipped safety glass, special protections seams and plenty of armor. Detailed specifications were not announced but BMW confirmed the model will have a protection class rating of VR6.

Power is provided by a 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 engine that produces 450 PS (330 kW) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. There's no word on performance figures but the standard X5 xDrive50i can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
