A Sprint Car race at Canandaigua Motorsports Park ended abruptly after one of the contenders died.

Following an in-race dispute with Tony Stewart, Sprint Car driver 20-year-old Kevin Ward Jr. had to retire from the race as his car took a massive hit after crashing into the wall. Kevin was furious with the aftermath of this incident and instead of exiting the race track, he decided to get out of the vehicle and actually attempt to confront Tony Stewart.

The outcome of his dangerous decision was fatal as in the next lap (under a yellow flag) Tony Stewart ran him over. Kevin was immediately taken to a local hospital but it was too late as the doctors said he was dead on arrival.
