China is a crucial market for Citroën which is why in the last several years a variety of models have been created specifically and exclusively for the People's Republic. Following the DS 5LS and DS 6WR, Citroën is putting the finishing touches on a compact crossover called "C3-XR" which will effectively slot between the 2008 and the aforementioned more premium DS 6WR.

According to the latest report, the base model will be motivated by a 4-cylinder, 1.8-liter naturally-aspirated engine of an unspecified output while a more potent version will come with a 1.6-liter turbocharged motor developing 163 bhp (122 kW).

Likely to remain a China-only model, the C3-XR will be produced locally by the Citroën & Dongfeng Motor Group joint venture and will be unveiled late November at the Guangzhou Auto Show before going on sale a few weeks later.
