Toyota is hoping to showcase the off-road prowess of the 2015 Tundra TRD Pro by entering the model in the Baja 1000.

Set to compete in the Full Size Stock Class, the "lightly modified" truck has Hella auxiliary lights, a Chromoly roll cage and an off-road suspension. The model has also been equipped with high-performance brakes and 17-inch wheels with 37-inch Baja T/A KR tires.

Interior changes are relatively limited but include Mastercraft racing seats, two navigation systems and a communications system.

The 5.7-liter V8 engine has been outfitted with a custom cold air intake and a cat back exhaust system. Toyota declined to release performance specifications but the standard engine develops 381 bhp (284 kW) and 401 lb-ft (543 Nm) of torque.

The truck will be driven by Ted Moncure, Andy Bell, Jamie Bestwick and Ryan Millen. Toyota Trucks Chief Engineer Mike Sweers will also act as the navigator.
