Hyundai has announced plans to launch a small crossover in 2017 which will act as a direct competitor for the Nissan Juke.

In an interview with Edmunds, Hyundai Motor America CEO Dave Zuchowski shed some light about the company's upcoming lineup changes which will kick off with a redesigned 2016MY Elantra slated to go on sale next year and will be followed shortly by a new Tucson/ix35. More interestingly, he also announced a smaller crossover sitting below the Tucson is in the pipeline.

Targeting Gen Y buyers, it will be more than just a "mini Tucson" according to Zuchowski who said we should "think of maybe something that looks like a Juke or something that has edgy, dynamic styling." Back in 2011 at NAIAS in Detroit we saw Hyundai's interesting Curb concept which could influence the small crossover planned to come out in 2017.
