Renault Australia managing director Justin Hocevar told CarAdvice the Koleos will receive a second generation.

Launched back in 2008, the Koleos is in need of a replacement since it has started to show its age and also it hasn't been what you'd call an attractive car, even though it received a couple of facelifts during its lifespan. An all-new model has been confirmed but it's still two years away as Renault's managing director in Australia says the car will be out in 2016 and by then the Koleos will be almost nine years old.

Just like the current car, the second generation Koleos will be largely based on the Nissan X-Trail which features the Common Module Family (CMF) architecture developed by the Renault-Nissan alliance. Renault hopes the Koleos will be more popular since the Captur is doing a good job at boosting the company's crossover presence.
