Volkswagen has announced their Osnabrück plant will begin building the Porsche Cayenne starting in the summer of 2015.

Citing high demand, Volkswagen will invest €25 ($33.8) million into the plant to ensure it can build about 20,000 Cayennes annually.

According to Volkswagen, "Optimization of the existing factory capacity and the agreed assembly of the Porsche Cayenne in Osnabrück underlines the high degree of flexibility within the [Volkswagen] Group wide production network and is simultaneously for the good cooperation between Volkswagen and Porsche."

This won't be the first Porsche to roll off the assembly line in Osnabrück as the plant already builds the Boxster and Cayman. However, production of the latter two models will be "gradually shifted back" to Porsche starting at the end of 2016.
