Harman has announced the 2015 Smart ForTwo and ForFour will be offered with a bespoke sound system.

Harman-owned JBL has developed a sound system for the next-gen Smart ForTwo and ForFour created specifically for the compact interior cabins of both cars. The subwoofer can actually be removed in order to free up space in the trunk while the speakers have been positioned so that the driver and passengers will be "smart-surrounded" with sound.

The ForTwo will come with an eight-speaker, six-channel DSP high-performance amplifier with the center loudspeaker installed in the middle of the dashboard. Two tweeters are positioned to the left and right of the A-pillar whereas the low midrange speakers are mounted to the bottom of the driver and passenger doors. JBL also installed the two surround speakers at head height to provide optimal surround sound.

As for the Smart ForFour, this one comes with an eight-channel DSP amplifier and an extra two pairs of high-frequency and low mid-range speakers together with C-pillar mounted surround speakers.

Harman says the 2015 Smart ForTwo and ForFour equipped with the JBL sound system will go on sale this November.
