Mitsubishi Australia Marketing Director Antonio Principe has revealed some new details about the 2015 Triton / L200.

In an interview with Drive, Principe said the model will follow in the footsteps of the Chevrolet Colorado, Ford Ranger and Nissan Navara by becoming more car-like. As he explained, “Manufacturers are fitting them with a lot more amenities, and they’re more car-like to drive. That said, it’s still important that these utes still have the flexibility, the big towing capacity and everything else.”

Principe declined to go into specifics but said the model will be safer and more expensive than its predecessor. The latter news is unfortunate but the executive said the pricing would still be competitive with its rivals.

The next-generation Triton will be introduced later this year and it is expected to feature styling inspired by the GR-HEV concept. A Fiat variant is slated for 2016 and it will reportedly be offered in Europe and Latin American.
