Despite growing in size a little bit, the 2016 Astra is bound to lose up to 100 kg (220 lbs) and based on the attached spy shots its design won’t stray away too much compared to the current model. Noticeable features include door-mounted mirrors, a longer roof spoiler and a more prominent tailgate. It also appears to be a tad lower than today’s model and should have a sportier rear end while some Monza concept influences are likely to be implemented.

The all-new Astra will be manufactured outside Germany since production will take place in Poland and United Kingdom at the Gliwice and Ellesmere Port factories, respectively. The hatchback will be the first one to see the light of day and will be followed by the usual body style derivatives such as wagon, coupe and sedan. An OPC version with extra power and more aggressive styling is also in the works.

An official reveal of the seventh generation Opel Astra will likely occur sometime next year.
