Alfa Romeo has released extensive details and images with the 2015 U.S.-spec 4C scheduled to reach dealerships this fall at a starting price of 53,900 USD.
Unlike the European version which has a dry weight of 895 kg (1,973 lbs), the US model tips the scales at 1,050 kg (2,315 lbs) because of mandatory safety regulations. Alfa Romeo had to add some aluminum enforcements to the carbon fiber monocoque, along with installing a new fuel system and modifying the substructures for impact absorption.
It comes with the same 4-cylinder, 1.75-liter all-aluminum turbocharged gasoline engine delivering 240 PS (177 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque to the rear wheels through a dual-clutch paddle-shift TCT gearbox. This hardware arrangement allows the 4C complete the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) run in the "mid-4 second range" before topping out at 160 mph (258 km/h).
For those who can't wait until fall, Alfa Romeo is offering a limited-run Launch Edition set to hit dealerships this summer in 500 examples each priced at 68,400 USD. Paying extra will reward customers with sports seats with black micro fiber, bi-xenon headlights with LED DRLs, carbon fiber rear spoiler and mirror caps as well as red lacquered brake calipers.
This model can also be distinguished by its matte black 18-inch front / 19-inch rear wheels, racing exhaust and an interior carbon fiber trim. More importantly, the Launch Edition is configured with a race-spec suspension with front- and rear-sway bars and shock absorbers. Lastly, customers can choose between Madreperla White, Rosso Competizione and Rosso Alfa paints and all cars will come equipped with serialized "Launch Edition" plaque.
Note: Pricing does not include 1,295 USD destination charge. Additional details can be found in the attached press release.
