Renault has brought its hottest iteration of the Megane RS Trophy to this year's Gumball 3000.

The photos were taken in Paris where the Megane Renaultsport 275 Trophy participated in the Gumball 3000 rally showing a matte black paint and #UNDER8 lettering above the exhaust pipe. For those unfamiliar with this hashtag, it refers to Renault's attempt to reclaim the Nürburgring lap record for a front-wheel drive car.

An official announcement of the 'Ring time will be made on Monday and most likely the latest Megane RS has posted a lap time of less than 7 minutes and 58.4 seconds , representing the current record established by the Seat Leon Cupra 280.

In the attempt to retake the title, engineers have retuned the 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and bumped its output to 275 PS (202 kW) and 360 Nm (265 lb-ft). The hot hatchback also received adjustable Öhlins Road & Track dampers with steel springs, Cup chassis, black 19-inch Speedline Turini wheels and a limited-slip differential. There's a rumor that all these changes have allowed the vehicle to lap the 'Ring in 7 minutes and 45 seconds.
