Following numerous teasers, Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) has revealed the limited edition GT F.

The special edition Falcon represents an epilogue for FPV as the Blue Oval company has announced to shut down manufacturing facilities in Australia by October 2016. Only 550 units will be produced (500 for Australia and 50 for New Zealand) but only a few are still on sale with a 77,990 AUD price tag.

The last hurrah for FPV is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 supercharged engine delivering 477 PS (351 kW) and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft). Interestingly, there's also an overboost function providing an additional 15 percent of power "if the prevailing conditions are favorable."

It is believed the extra power will be available at all times during lower temperatures while during hot days the added oomph is available for 15-20 seconds. The engine's ECU has been remapped in such a way so that it prevents the use of overboost in first gear as a safety measure to protect the gearbox. With overboost activated, the engine puts out somewhere in the region of 549 PS (404 kW) according to local media.

The FPV GT F sedan has received the suspension setup of the limited-run GT RSPEC and will ride on 19-inch alloy wheels shod in Dunlop Sport Maxx 275/35 R19 tires. It's available with five body paints and can be ordered with a tailored cover in dark grey featuring the model logo and stripe print. On the inside drivers will get to enjoy a G-force sensor available as standard equipment.
