Opel has disclosed details about its bold plans to introduce 27 new models by 2018.
It was 2012 when Opel revealed its ambitious "Drive! 2022" plan to introduce 23 new models and 13 new engines by 2016. Now, the turnaround plan has been revised and the German marque is preparing 27 models and 17 engines by 2018. With these massive changes, Opel wants to increase its market share in Europe to eight percent and in Germany to ten percent by 2022 and also wants the profit margin to rise to five percent.
The new model assault has already started with the next-gen Vivaro and will continue later this year with the next-gen Corsa and in 2015 with the all-new Astra. Opel also plans to focus on technical innovations and will offer starting next year Wi-Fi hotspot support provided by OnStar.
With this extensive plan, Opel together with its UK sister brand Vauxhall want to grab the number two spot in the European passenger car market by 2022.
