Audi's Australian division has shed some light about the future of the RS3 badge, indirectly confirming it would take the shape of a sedan.

In an interview given to Motoring, Audi Australia product planner Matthew Dale described the dazzling A3 clubsport quattro concept as "a view into the future of the RS." He also said we shouldn't expect the next-gen RS3 to match the concept's 525 PS & 600 Nm output figures but he did say a production version "can get well over 300 kW" so the car could have at least 408 PS.

Most likely the RS3 will be introduced later this year as a sedan and be powered by the company's well-known 5-cylinder, 2.5-liter TFSI turbocharged gasoline engine matched with a quattro all-wheel drive system and a 7-speed S tronic gearbox.

Look for a possible debut in October at the Paris Motor Show before the range-topping A3 goes on sale late 2014 or early 2015.
