Volkswagen's apprentices have introduced the Golf GTI Wolfsburg Edition one-off at the 33rd Wörthersee GTI meeting, following an announcement made last week.

For last year's Wörthersee event VW's apprentices brought a Golf GTI Cabrio Austria and now they have unveiled a Wolfsburg Edition based on the Performance Edition of the hot hatchback. Although the 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbocharged engine was kept, its output was boosted from the series 230 PS (169 kW) to no less than 380 PS (279 kW). The added oomph was possible by installing a carbon air box and a hand-welded stainless steel exhaust system featuring vacuum valve control which allows engine sound adjusting.

Four young women and eight men worked for nine months on the project and decided to apply a red and black exterior & interior theme. The Golf GTI Wolfsburg Edition also boasts an 11-speaker, 2,170-watt sound system with built-in LED lightning, subwoofer along with a PlayStation gaming console, 24-inch LED TV and an iPhone docking station.
