Renault's Chief Performance Officer Jerome Stoll has revealed the company will offer a Twingo EV.

Speaking to Bloomberg, Stoll confirmed the model will be added to the lineup but he couldn't say when it will arrive because it is currently on hold. The executive went on to say their electric vehicle plans are in flux as "People haven't yet reached the point where they feel the need to have an electric vehicle for full daily use."

This isn't terribly surprising as Renault-Nissan only managed to sell 19,093 electric vehicles last year despite earlier projections of selling a cumulative total of 1.5 million electric vehicles by 2016.

Interestingly, when Automotive News Europe reached out to the automaker a spokesperson denied plans for a Twingo EV because the company already offers a "full lineup of electric vehicles."
