According to a recent report, Cadillac has decided against building a seven-seat crossover.

Originally slated to be launched in 2017, the crossover was going to be based on the next-generation Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia. However, Wards Auto is reporting the model was axed because executives feared it would have too much overlap with the latter two models.

Despite the sudden change of course, the publication is reporting the company is still planning to offer an entry-level crossover that will slot below the SRX.  Interestingly, there's also word of a GMC variant but nothing is official as of yet.

There's no word on when the entry-level crossover will arrive but Cadillac Senior Vice President Bob Ferguson recently hinted the company could introduce two new models within the next 18 to 30 months.
