Alex Kelsey is a 21-year-old New Zealander who managed to build a proper rally car after 18 months of hard work.

He wanted the car to "look good", "sound good" as well as "easy to work on and cheap to maintain". For looks he went for a Peugeot 207 body while for soundtrack he preferred the noise generated by a V6 engine from a Formula Renault car. After outsourcing these parts, Alex did the chassis, suspension and carbon fiber work by himself for what he entitled as being the MC2 (Mad Creation 2).

Not only is the car road legal, but it can run the 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) sprint in just 7 seconds – all this coming from a youngster suffering from dyslexia who describes himself as being "absolutely useless at school, hopeless at writing and stuff like that."

Moreover, with his first project, a modified Subaru, Alex won a round of the New Zealand Rally Championship, making him the youngest driver to achieve this performance and he did it on his racing debut.
