Ariel Motor Company has announced plans to introduce a limited edition Atom 3.5R which will come with an array of upgrades.

Back in 2012 we saw Ariel's Atom 3.5 which came with a chassis derived from the V8 and Mugen versions and now the company has announced plans for a hotter derivative. Power will come from the same Honda Civic Type R-sourced 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter supercharged engine but its output will increase from 310 bhp (231 kW) to around 350 bhp (261 kW) thanks to a new charge cooler.

Moreover, the engine will be connected to a 6-speed Sadev paddle-shift gearbox derived from the Atom V8 but further tweaked in this new application. The Atom 3.5R will also make use of Öhlins TTX dampers as well as bespoke Kumho high-performance tires.

Already available on order for around 80,000 GBP (135,000 USD / 97,500 EUR), deliveries of the Atom 3.5R will kick off this summer after Ariel will complete the vehicle's special livery.
