HSV is facing an uncertain future following the announcement to rebadge the Opel / Vauxhall Astra VXR and Insignia VXR as Holdens.

Since the models are already high-performance variants, HSV could face problems trying to make them more powerful and appealing. As HSV Managing Director Tim Jackson explained to Motoring, the Astra XVR is "already a great car which ups the challenge for us to make it better and to establish a business case."

Despite the difficulties, Jackson said “Our business has always been to enhance Holden product and the opportunity to enhance that vehicle from our perspective is still open.” While the executive declined to elaborate, he hinted the company could begin working on a hotter Astra VXR.
