Chinese automaker, and local DaimlerChrysler partner, Chery Automobiles has today announced that they will, together with Bognor Automotive from Uruquay, start building an armoured version of their Eastar. The heavily-padded Eastar would mainly be sold outside of China, but who the target audience is, is beyond me. ChinaCarForums wonders whether an Eastar (or locally known as a Son of the Orient) can even handle the extra weight and whether the crash ratings will improve with the armouring.
