Honda's ASIMO robot recently make a splash at the New York Auto Show and today it got to play soccer with U.S. President Barack Obama at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation in Tokyo, Japan.

Following a slightly awkward introduction, ASIMO greeted Obama by saying "Mr. President, I am ASIMO, a humanoid robot. It is a pleasure to meet you.” ASIMO then took its time preparing to kick a soccer ball as Obama jokingly noted "It's going to be pretty hard, huh?" Shortly afterwards, ASIMO successfully kicked the ball to the President who remarked "good job" and "excellent."

While the event was fun and lighthearted, Honda says they are "conducting robotics research for the purpose of creating robots that help people while coexisting with people in society."
