We haven't heard much about TVR lately but company chairman Les Edgar has revealed plans to open a research and development center in England to support the launch of an all-new model that is due in two or three years.

Speaking to Autocar, Edgar said the company has already created some "detailed concept designs" and they'll soon be ready to build a static prototype. He declined to say much else about the model but hinted the company has looked at everything from a tubular chassis to a carbon fiber monocoque.

TVR is still debating engine options but Edgar said the model will likely use a powertrain from another automaker. This will likely disappoint the purists but the executive said the engine would be tuned to deliver a "sound and throttle response" typical of TVR.
