The 2016 Chevrolet Volt has been spied undergoing testing in Michigan.
Dressed in swirly camouflage, the redesigned model eschews the blocky styling of its predecessor as it adopts curvaceous bodywork and a steeply raked windscreen. The model also has an upward sweeping beltline, a rounded roof and a better integrated tailgate.
Little else is known about the model but it is expected to ride on a brand-new platform and have a "significantly" improved electric-only range that could be as high as 50-60 miles (80-96 km). Previous reports have also indicated there could be a new entry-level variant that uses a smaller battery. This would reduce the car's electric-only range but it could enable the model to cost about $30,000.
