Chevrolet has introduced the next-generation Cruze at Auto China.

Drawing cues from the Tru concept, the model has an aerodynamic front fascia with a "dual-mesh" grille and sweptback headlights. The car also has a rakish windscreen, chrome-plated trim and shorter overhangs. While the styling won't win everyone over, Chevrolet says the Cruze uses their new design language which carries the slogan of "Design with a Heartbeat."

In China, two different engines will be available. Performance specifications were not released but choices will include a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine and a naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter unit. The engines can be connected to a variety of transmissions including a six-speed manual, a six-speed automated manual and an all-new seven-speed DCG dual-clutch gearbox. Chevrolet says the new powertrains will provide best-in-class fuel economy that is 14-21 percent better than its predecessor.

Additional information is limited but the Cruze rides on a brand-new architecture and the model has been designed to set new benchmarks in the segment for "fuel economy, handling and intelligent technology."
