The success of the Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte could spur the company to put the highly acclaimed Alfieri concept into production.

Citing sources familiar with the matter, Bloomberg is reporting Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne could announce plans to build the Alfieri concept on May 6th. The same sources went on to say the model will be the Mirafiori plant alongside the Levante crossover.

While nothing is official, Marchionne has previously hinted the Alfieri could go into production in "24-28 months."

Unfortunately, the concept's 4.7-liter V8 engine is expected to be dropped for a Ghibli-sourced twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that has outputs of 330 PS (243 kW) and 410 PS (310 kW). This isn't terribly surprising as the production model is slated to ride on the same platform that underpins the Ghibli and Quattroporte.
