Volkswagen Group of America CEO Michael Horn has confirmed plans to bring the next-generation Phaeton to the United States.

Speaking to Bloomberg's Matt Miller, Horn said "We plan to bring it back somewhere [in] 2018, 2019."

While that's quite a ways off, the next-generation Phaeton is slated to ride MLB Evo platform and offer a variety of six- and eight-cylinder engines. Little else is known about the model but Volkswagen's Heinz-Jakob Neusser has previously said it will be a "class leading" vehicle that is "very smooth and luxurious."

Horn also downplayed the possibility of offering the Amarok in the United States as he said it's "very small" and expensive. He didn't rule out the possibility of a pickup but noted they would "really need to do something different" for the U.S. market.
